Welcome to Contemporary Social Problems!! Please use this syllabus (and me) as a guide to your success in this course!
COURSE OVERVIEW: What be kind problems? What are some of the most pressing social problems in our society? How are people affected by these problems? What is the medias role in shaping, reflecting, and perpetuating social problems? Are in that respect any solutions? Why do we even care? In this course, we will use social theory and our sociological imaginations to analyze, synthesize, and quantify contemporary social problems, how they relate to our everyday lives, and how they are presented in the media.
